ESA to UC telephone claim was created by FloMcF
Hello, I'm due to ring to do this on May 12th ready for 15th cut off.

I spoke via the chat to them back in March. But, I'm wholly confused, I don't deal well with forms or these sort of things, hence I'm a member.

On the chat, they said. If I go via the phone claim, I won't be doing a Journal I have to ring UC for any queries?

If I do it online I have to do a Journal?

I'm also totally confused , do I have to register online and then ring the help claim line

Or do you only register online , if you are applying online?

Do I need any pieces of information i.e. medical letters or tenancy proof via phone claim , orjust online?

I have an advocate who would check things over best they can, and back any issues, but I'm just totally lost what I'm supposed to do
I write better than I read, (dyslexic) so online makes sense , with some help,. Claim line help also makes sense as it's forms, but I'm not good with phone calls, moreso DWP enquiry things and that stress.

Can someone please guide me the right direction, if I have to register for UC either way, I will be doing that next Monday prior to phone call ...or doing it online?

thank you in advance

Hi FloMcF

You sound as you would not take to a telephone only claim. I would phone the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service for advice. Their phone number is on page 2 of your Migration letter.
Call our Help to Claim phone number
You can contact an adviser through our free Help to Claim phone service. Advisers are available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday:

England: 0800 144 8 444

Scotland: 0800 023 2581

Wales: 08000 241 220

This video from the DWP describes the online claim process.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi David,
I chatted to them online (telephone claims) this is the advice they gave...

' We recommend you carry out an online claim. However, if you are not digitally skilled, and you do not have access to the internet / do not have a smart phone or a computer, or you have problems with reading and writing, you may want to do a phone claim.

**
Online Universal Credit (UC) claims offer advantages like 24/7 access, an online journal to track your claim, and instant updates on your circumstances.

**
An online claim can be done and completed within an hour or less. We could also support you with a step by step guide to claiming UC online via email. This could be very helpful for you or anyone supporting you with your online claim. And you don't have to write anything on paper but fill in the UC form.'

I have 2 advocates who could hopefully help with form (dyslexic) and I have your guide downloaded, so I hope I get it right? I will need to do it 13th May or I'll be too close to cut off on 15th.
Do I need evidence, to upload onto a form?
This is a ESA to UC transition, I've seen a lot of horror stories with this process, is it supposed to just transition seemlessly?

Thanks

I thought I replied to this, but it isn't showing anywhere?

Basically they suggested doing online. but I can get in touch with them if need be.
They also sent an email, a kind of 'how to' thing But it's worried me as it was saying about I had to produce fit notes (I'm in support group?) and would have to make appointment to go to see a work coach? Is this right? I didn't think we needed fit notes?
This whole process is being rushed through and causing utter distress and anxiety to so many people, including me?
