Hello,
I have my review telephone assesment with capita soon. Would it be better that I fill out the written form so they can review that before having my assesment? Or does it not make much difference if I have the telephone review without them having my written form?

Hi M

I have moved your post to its own space. It can get complicated if we are trying to respond to more than one person on a post, as there is a danger that someone could receive the wrong 'advice'

Forgive me, but I'm not sure that I understand your question. You say that you have a telephone assessment soon. Have you been notified of a specific date? You are wondering whether to fill out a form. Were you sent a review form with a date to return it? Although it occasionally happens, it is unusual to get an assessment date if you haven't returned a review form.

If you have an assessment without the assessor being able to have a prior look at your review form, you will be at a disadvantage, as they will be relying on any previous information they have access to (which may be out of date) or what you tell them at the assessment.

Hello,

My award is due to end this September. They have given me a telephone review appointment for tomorrow.

Initially they sent me a booklet (review form) to complete, but I didn't receive the letter. I called them and asked them to resend it me - they did.

I have now received the review form but I haven't been able to complete it. The eadline to send them the attached review form was the 28th of April 2025. But, they've already given me my assesment to be tomorrow (1st May).

So, it seems like I have received an assesment date even though I haven't sent them my review form.

I do not want to be at a disadvanage. Capita have said I can only rearrange my assesment once as they have a policy of 1 cancellation only.

I called PIP to try and discuss it but they weren't very helpful, he started telling me about the whole review process. I do not want to be at a disadvantage. Capita have said I can only rearrange my assesment once as they have a policy of 1 cancellation only.

Capita are open till 8pm so I will call them to rearrange my appointment, I understand it takes them up to 10 days to receive the form. Do you know how long it will take to reach the assesor and for them to actually be able to read it. Essentially, I'm just trying to request a realistic timeframe to rearrange my appointment with Capita for (which will give me the best chance of my claim review being successful - as my health conditions have actually worsened since).

Hi Vicky

I'm really sorry, but the forum wasn't open when you answered my post - so there was no one around to reply to you.

I wish you had come on here earlier - because the first thing I would have told you to do is ring the DWP and ask for an extension on returning your form - which you would have been granted. You are supposed to be given seven days notice for an assessment - which doesn't sound as if this has happened.

It is standard policy that you are only allowed to arrange an appointment once - but if they haven't given you seven days notice you shouldn't be having an assessment anyway. I hope that you have cancelled your appointment.

You need to complete your form asap and then send it to the DWP by tracked post - so you know it has been delivered. You can the delivery online. Once you know the DWP have got it - you want to keep ringing to see how quickly it gets entered onto the system. The call handler will be able to tell you when it is there. Once it is on the system there is no reason why access won't be given to capita quickly. It's not as if they are sending papers to them.

If you haven't already I hope that you have looked at the Guide to PIP claims and Reviews just to make sure that you are up to date with the new review form.
