URGENT: UC WCA Assessment Advice Needed! was created by MW1701
Hello I need urgent advice regarding an upcoming UC WCA Assessment
Background
I migrated to UC from JSA (IB) with all disability premiums in January and had my UC50 in March-April. It took over a week to arrive, and because of my disabilities / illnesses / heath conditions, and my mother being suddenly admitted to hospital during this time (she has COPD, had an exacerbation, chest infection, and pneumonia) I was unable to complete the form as fully as I'd have liked or supply all my supporting evidence. I had to submit it as complete as I could before the deadline.
On the UC50 I mentioned that I'd need my mum to accompany me as she's the one who knows me best, and that she had been in hospital, only recently discharged and needed time to recuperate. I forgot to mention my sleep append though and that I'd need an afternoon appointment.
Today
I've just received a letter from Maximus with a Face-to-Face assessment date for 05 June 2025 at 09:00. I need to rearrange this because my mum still isn't well enough to accompany me, and also it is a morning appointment.
Do I;
a) Request a rescheduled face-to-face appointment? How far back can I request it? Hoping my mum has improved by then.
b) Request to Switch to a rescheduled Video / Telephone assessment? Again how far back can I defer this?
I honestly don’t know what to do and I'm panicking!
Disabilities / Illnesses / Heath Conditions
• Patially Sighted
• IBS
• GERD
• CP / CPPS
• Umbilical Hernia
• Sleep Apnea
• Stress Anxiety
• ADHD
• Autism
• Depression

Hi MW1701
I'm sorry to hear your mum is unwell.
Do you really want a face to face assessment? If you don't I would ask to change it to a telephone assessment.
You can explain about your mum needing to be on the call - but they won't necessarily give you a date very far into the future. It will depend on the dates and times they have available.
