Hi Jon
There would be no harm in getting someone to do that for you.

Hi David,
Thanks for your kind advice.
I wrote the following:
Attention of Barbara Billings, District Manager
Dear Ms Billings,
I am writing to complain about my treatment thus far in the migration process from ESA to Universal Credit.
I completed my Migration form as requested and also proved my identity with passport, driving licence, etc using the chip in my passport.
I was then asked to attend a telephone Biograhical meeting.
I was sat ready by my phone and had all the paperwork ready. This was cancelled without any notice. I called the DWP to ask why no one called me. They could not see a note on the system to say why it was cancelled.
Due to my Autism and other disabilities I cannot cope with change easily, and less so without any notice.
When I did have my Biographical meeting with Jackie I was again asked to provide proof, evidence, etc by attending a Job Centre in person (which I am unable to do) to provide information I have provided already several times over,
I was then asked if someone could do it for me, which suggested my main carer may be able to do. However, I pay my carer to do jobs for me and I am on low income, besides which why do they need to bring proof to the job centre of information I have already provided.
I will be using the same bank account I have been using for several years to receive my ESA payments.
Further to this, I was then asked to provide a Fit Note. During completion of my Migration Form I was told I do not need a Fit Note.
I then sought legal advice on this, and was informed to write the following:
Please be aware that I am migrating from ESA and that I am therefore not required to provide fit notes or undergo a WCA. Instead, the law requires that my WCA status for ESA must be
automatically transferred to my UC claim.
For further details, please see Regulation 19 of The Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2014; Regulations 39 and 40 of the Universal Credit Regulations 2013; the Advice
Guide for Decision Makers, Chapter M6: Effects of transition to UC.
In addition, as I am in the support group on ESA, I should be automatically transferred to receiving the LCWRA element on UC and will therefore have no work-related requirements. This means I will not have to see a work coach or carry out any tasks or activities to receive my UC.
Would you please confirm that I dont have to attend a Job Centre to proof any documentation, as this has already been provided. In addition, will you confirm DWP has sufficient information to process my ESA to UC Migration and will process my application without further delay.
Thanks for your kind advice.

Replied by Jon on topic ESA to UC Migration
Hi,
I have just received a letter from the DWP, dated 20 June 2025, stating that my 'Contribution-based ESA will change to 'New Style ESA from 12 June 2025.
The letter says I MUST attend a Work Coach Appointment.
I will need to complete a New Style ESA Form.
At my Work Coach meeting I will be asked to explain how my disabilities affects my ability to work..
Firstly, I didnt know I was on Contribution-Based ESA - I thought this had been changed years ago to Income-Related ESA only, as I completed a form to that affect.
I have recently completed the ESA to UC Migration form and submitted it.
On my benefits letter it shows my total benefits amount as being Income Related (I get Sever Disabled £82.90 + Disability Income Guarantee £ 21.20 + Support Group £48.50 + £92.05 Living Expenses = Total Income-Related amount £244.65).
As I write this, I am on a waiting call to DWP (currently been waiting 1 hour and 12 minutes).
Should I tell them I dont need Contribution-Based ESA as all my benefits are Income Related?
Do I need to tell them how my disabilities affect my ability to work?
I thought the Migration to UC was enough.
PLEASE HELP !!!

Hi Jon
As you are in the Support Group you can refuse to talk about your health conditions. All you need to say is that you are in the ESA Support Group and they are not allowed to make further health related enquiries.
It is a good idea to accept New Style ESA as it is a contributions based Benefit and won't be affected if in the future there are restrictions to who can claim UC.
Let me know how you get on.

Replied by Jon on topic ESA to UC Migration
Hi David,
Thanks again for kindly advising me.
Can I clarify something.
I have completed my migration form for Income-related ESA to Universal Credit.
I am now being asked for a telephone meeting with someone from the Job Centre to discuss my Commitments Review (I have just clicked to accept the Commitments) and to discuss my move from Contribution-based ESA (which I didnt know I was on) to move to New Style ESA.
I appreciate you said to go with New Style ESA (rather than give it up), and you advised I dont need to discuss any medical/disability issues as Im in the Support Group, but will I have to complete a form for New Style ESA?
This has really thrown me as I thought the Migration Form would be all I needed to do.
Thanks, Jon
