UC and Housing Costs was created by Brian1888
I'm aware if you have over £16,000 in savings you lose means tested benefits and if you have between £6000 and £16,000 you lose a proportion.
My question is-: If you have savings of between £6000 and £16,000 do you still qualify to receive full housing costs via UC ?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Brian1888

The short answer is yes, with UC they work out your applicable UC amount first before they make any deductions.

So for savings, any bundle or part bundle of £250 over £6k you will loose £4.33 pm in tariff income.

If you had savings of £8,150 that would equate to 8 bundles + 1 part bundle, therefore your UC would be reduced by £4.33 x 9 = £38.97 pm (tariff income).
