CLAIMING SDP when having 70 days left for migration deadline was created by Gjoy
Hello everyone.
I am new member.
I have recently recieved my migration letter .
Now I receive income related ESA and get the Dlsability Income Guarantee; and am also in the Support Group.
With the help of my daughter we got in touch with CAB online to help with migrating.; He checked my benefits was right ect..and referred me to my local CAB as he said I could be getting Severe Disabilty premium with my ESA and to get this added before I migrate; to get the protection to get my money boosted up.
He said I should of had this added when I started my ESA claim;
I am phoning my local CAB tomorrow to get advise aswell as you.
What I would like to know is ; what will happen? if I do claim it before my deadline; which is the 2nd of December?
Do I claim online? or do they do home vist?
Or Face-to Face?
Is it worth claiming SDP? as I have only 2 months for the deadline to claim UC.
The CAB said the SDP will give me the protection I need to keep the disability top up I have at present or even boost my money up even with my son living with me as we are both under the mental health services and both get pip for our disabilities ,and are in the support group?
Please ,can you help with this query, as I'm confused.
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Gjoy
I think it is preferable that you take advice from CAB rather than from anyone at BenefitsandWork as CAB should be aware of the full details of your household Benefits.
Your local Citizens Advice ( CAB as you call them ) and Citizens Advice Help to Claim ( phone service ) can both help you.
Having said that I can give you general advice that claiming SDP can lead to an increased Benefit payment and often is accompanied with a back payment.
Here is a recommendation of the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service from a Forum member.--
