Assessor report was created by Pam j
Hi
I asked for the assessor report so I could see what was written.
A few questions.
1. Does the decision maker usually go along with the report and length of award given?
2. She ticked the box that I could move 1 metre but not more than twenty, but said I needed no support to follow any sort of journey. I feel this unfair. I don't drive and couldn't possibly get public transport , as I am too unwell. My husband or sister accompany me all the time, without them I just wouldn't go.
If I get the points for full mobility is this an issue I should dispute?
Thank you

Hi Pam j
1. Most of the time, the decision maker goes along with the assessor, including the length of the award.
2. I can't tell you why the assessor said that you didn't need support fo follow a journey. The questions here are not based on your physical ability to walk - it can be down to cognitive, sight, or mental health issues.
We can't tell you whether you should dispute the award if you are awarded enhanced mobility. Many claimants dispute the findings of their assessment reports, but they don't challenge it because they don't want to run the risk of the DWP changing their award. However, some claimants feel so strongly they do dispute what is written. If a person has been awarded an enhanced award but they don't agree with the points awarded, the DWP are unlikely to change their mind.
If you want to challenge the length of the award you can do, though only a small number of people succeed in getting a longer award length.

Thank you for your reply.
Can I also ask , if they go with the 5 year award, my next assessment will be after I retire. Does anything change in respect of assessments after retirement?
Thank you for your help

Hi Pam j
You may get a light touch review, depending on your circumstances.
The DWP have finally created a light touch review form for claimants who have reached pension age or who have an ongoing PIP award.
The AR2 form is being issued from August 2023.
This form is a much shorter alternative to the AR1 PIP award review form, which most claimants who have an end date to their award receive.
The AR2 form is being issued to claimants who have:
very stable needs which are unlikely to change over time
high level needs which will either stay the same or get worse
a planned award review date due on or at State Pension age
