ID verification for UC Migration claim done by appointee was created by woody34
As her appointee, I have to submit the ESA-UC migration claim for my daughter. Among other things I'm worrying about ID verification.
I've seen posts online from people who completed verification as an appointee for someone and it was their (the appointee's) ID that was needed, not the ID of the person they are making the claim for. The Google search AI seems to confirm this stating as follows:
When you act as an appointee and are migrating a claim to Universal Credit (UC), you must verify your own identity, not the claimant's, as you are the one making the claim on their behalf.
But I've seen other posts about DWP expecting to see the person the claim is being made for to verify their ID.
So
(1) for online verification, which ID Is needed, my ID or my daughter's? Is there any clear information about this?
(2) same question if verification is needed by phone or at jobcentre
My daughter doesn't really have anything in the way of ID, not even bank statements (she has them, but they still go to her home address - my address - not her current address).
If it might help, I'm wondering about applying for a passport and provisional driving license for her. On the DWP website at www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-verify-your-i...for-universal-credit, driving license is not listed - is that no longer acceptable for online verification?

I have just done this and the answer is you need both. The online UC form you complete and you use the child's details and their ID. It is their claim. I used their passport and driving license. Driving license is not listed on the website but is available on the online form. Also put in the journal which you get access to after the verification that you are the appointee and they should contact you on XYZ. I had a call a few days later instructing me to go into the job centre with the bank card for the account UC should go into and my ID to verify myself and the payment account before they can put any money into it. They are allowing me to use my local job centre, not making me go to the one nearest the claimant.

Hi Woody34 I have run into the same problem. I provided my son's ID and have just been given an appointment to attend the Job Centre, so perhaps I should have provided my own. They tell you to fill in the form as if you are the claimant though. Hope you find the answers you need.
