Hi, I am my daughter's Appointee for her DLA claim, which she has claimed since the age of 5 and her current award runs till January 2027. However, as she is now 15 (16 in January 2026) we have recieved the forms, asking if she still needs an Appontee and to let them now, if she still requires one. I have filled the form out for myself to continue being her Appointee, as due to her severe life long learning disability's, along with challenging behaviour.

Due, especially to he challanging behaviour, she really isn't suitable to be interviewed and wouldn't really understand any way, if sehe were. On the form I'm due to post today, I have enclosed a letter from here Paedatrician stating this, hoping it will give more clout, rather than just writing or copying what the Paedatrician says in the box provided. The letter will be used as evidence when she moves to PIP, but it's not, as if the DWP don't already have this letter or similar anyway.

So two questions plese:

1- Do you think she will still have to be interviewed in relation for me carrying on being her Appointee or will they just want to interview myself, making sure I'm suitable?

2- Her move to PIP, will it be when she is 16 or when her current DLA award ends at 17?

Thank you in advance.

Hi tomtom

1. I'd be surprised if they insisted on speaking to her - but you can never be 100% certain with the DWP

2. It should be when she is 16, but I can't tell you when she will move as automatic DLA to PIPs were paused during the pandemic and are due to start again in 2028. This, of course, could change.
