migration from ESA to UC was created by louie63
Made my claim in September 2025 and gave all details of health issues
Got my award back in October and received first payment and second payment as well as some rent being paid directly to Housing Association.
Had to appeal reference spare room that I needed for carer and won that
As of now UC pays my rent not fully as they work on 46weeks as I get 6 weeks free but Housing Association will only except 52 weeks leaving me to pay those six weeks even though are free
Since my claim on telephone call with CAB advisor things just don't add up
As they keep telling that you will get the same amount that I was on before migration
But after doing the sums £160 worse off under UC
And it doesn't help when they send letters out second class it takes up to 10+ days to arrive in which the last letter did telling about spare room appeal I won
Then after calling UC telling me that my claim has been re calculated and my Transitional protection has gone down but by how much unknown as they tell me another letter is in the post telling about all the recalculation so another 10+ days wait
Its all very confusing and just put more pressure on my health and by losing this amount gives me serious concerns about heating my home and food shopping and other expenses

Hi louie63
I can understand where you are coming from. Usually Citizens Advice Help to Claim are able to sort things out. Here is a link to a guide from the charity CPAG about getting claim information and statements from your online universal credit account.

Let me know how you get on.

thanks for your reply
The only trouble is that I don't have online access due to being hacked and I have told UC about this and are sorting it out that was a month ago and still no response from UC
I had a visit from a friend and he looked at my payments and found its not £160 I'm losing but losing over £200 as I never included my rent payments as housing association wants 52 weeks and not 46 the UC are paying which is £897 which is £37 a week
So now I'm really lost in the numbers and what's going on
I will have to see if I can get a home visit from UC to explain all of this

Hi louie63
When calculating help with rent in Universal Credit, the total rent you pay for the year is added together and then divided by 12 to create 12 equal monthly rent amounts.
