UC Migration was created by Tigerlily11
Hi,
I have just got notice that my UC migration figure has been calculated.
This is where I am finding it hard to understand.
I am in the LCWRG group.
I was getting a Carer Premium instead of Carer’s Allowance as I had an underlying entitlement to it.
I was getting income related ESA and Contribution based ESA.
In my migration letter it says I will get a Transitional Protection.
They have taken off £83.07 for Carer’s Allowance even though it was Carer’s Premium I was getting of £46.40. I thought the Transition Protection would prevent me from losing the Carer’s Premium amount?
I think I read someone else here having problems with their Carer’s Premium after being migrated to UC.
Any help or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Jessica

Hi Tigerlily11
Unlike legacy benefits, with UC, if you claim LCWRA then you cannot claim the Care Element.
We would advise you to seek specialist advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk where they can take all your circumstances into consideration when giving you advice.

Thank you so much for your reply Gary.
I had a person helping from Citizens Advice but she is off on leave at the minute.
I understand I cannot claim both the Care Element and LCWRA on Universal Credit but am I wrong in thinking the Transitional Protection would protect the £46.40 a week Carer Premium I was getting with my ESA?
I am just trying to get my head around this.
Thank you.

Hi Tigerlily11
I am not too sure, I did read a similar post this week on the forum, the DWP had to do a manual fix, yours may be similar, I would post a query on your journal, see what the reply is and maybe take it up with your MP which was what the forum member did.
