Hi David
Thank you for your support with this. I contacted the manager as you suggested and have now had an email from a Work Coach at the job centre. Plus an appointment has been made to meet with me, next week, and register my appointeeship for my son's account. Thank you so much for your advice on this.
I have an additional question; please can you help. Previously my son was on UC with LCWRA. The Council were appointees for his account, and he accrued savings over a long period. This resulted in his UC support stopping last May 2025. They replied for UC in November (within a 6-month period from May to Nov) and a new Capacity for Work Questionnaire was completed. Which included lots of supporting documents showing his medical conditions, medication and that he lives in a supported living accommodation (24 hours support).
He UC was reinstated on the standard rate in November, but there has been no offer of a medical assessment. I thought the application would automatically generate a health assessment interview, but this has not been offered. He was asked to provide a fit note, which we have, and this is due to expire 10 April 2026.
The email I received from the Work Coach this week stated, “he has a fit note in place, so he is still required to attend appointments and will proceed through the Work capacity assessment process to determine his ability to work”. (He has a 15 min telephone work interview schedule for next Monday)
I am concerned that if a medical assessment does not take place prior to 6 April, he will no longer qualify for the LCWRA at the current rate. This will have a significant impact as due to his medical condition and special needs he will not be able to work and now will have a very limited income to live on. Can you advise of best of course of action and how we can address this.
Any advice much appreciated.

Hi JMC
As long as you have submitted the first Fit Note before the 6 April and you continuously supply the DWP with Fit Notes until your son has had the WCA then you will get the old higher LCWRA rate.
For how many days was the Fit Note? It appears to be for more than 29 days which means that the Work Coach should have posted out the WCA 50 form for you to complete.
Let me know how you get on.
