2026 Rent increase notification for UC was created by Susie27
Hello there,
I moved from ESA income to UC last year. I waited until invited so awarded transitional protection.
I need to inform UC on April 6th of rent increase. I realize I will be no better off as value of TP decreases over time but my question is:
Where on UC do I inform them? My sister suggested that I go via the "Report a change" of circumstances tab - is that correct? Am I also able to inform them via the more general, if indeed that's better?
I guess I just don't want to get it wrong as UC still frightens me a little.
Thank you,
Susie

Hi Susie27
If you have a social landlord then you will find a To Do on your account for you to action on the first day of the increased rent. Social Landlords have a special portal with which to share data with the DWP.
If you have a private landlord you must report the new rent via a change of circumstances. You are usually asked to upload the letter of rent increase to your Journal.
Let us know how you get on.

Thank you, David.
I am with a housing association so I'll see what happens on the 6th, and let you know.

Hi Susie27
Yes, that would be the best course of action.
