PIP claim reduced at review yet again!! was created by miss ladysmith
Hi all - I'm a long time user of B&W - I doubt i would have been on enhanced rate for daily living & Mobiity for the last 16 years without this site.
However despite my health deteriorating with every year, with every review I am reduced to standard living component.
I always do a MR - that normally fails and i go to the appeal court - that always wins, and is ironically the least stressful part of the process.
As i'm housebound my review was conducted over the phone 3/12/25 - 11 months after my review forms were submitted - it lasted almost 2hrs.
Then out of the blue i was contacted again by the same HP on 19/02/26 at about 5.30pm - this went on for almost an hour!
The HP said that DWP wanted more information which is why she was calling again - then asked all the same questions again!
I felt like it was clear she was trying to find ways to downgrade my award - and sure enough upon reading her report - she has stated to ignore her initial entry and only consider the second entries.
I'm amazed that her report shows this.
It also shows that she has made some glaring incorrect assumptions, which of course the decision maker has leaned into and then made even more glaring assumptions - hence why they reduced me to 11 points.
Just a couple of examples -
They have referred to what is a custom made (by the hospital) orthotic leg brace (which due to my injuries I'm unable to put on / take off myself) as a 'boot' - and that its not considered a medical treatment or therapy?
The decision maker has also acknowledged that i can only wash my face / neck /chest whilst sat on the loo - despite the fact that i'm unable to wash any other part of me myself - so has reduced that one to 3 - surely thats blatantly ignoring the fact that i cant wash my back, between my shoulders?
I feel this line below is very telling.
"I reduced your pip as i would not expect you to know the information provided would affect your award."
What does this mean?
Haha we caught you out?
Obviously information affects an award.
In the past I'm sure I used a template on here that broke down all the sections and i just had to write down why i disagreed and what points i thought i should be receiving and why - but i cant find it - or did i imagine such a file?
I cant believe they've even used my walking frame against me - saying that as i use that i must therefore have excellent strength and grip - despite me telling the HP that i have to lean on the frame more than hold it because my hands and shoulders are so bad i cant hold onto the handlebars most of the time - which is obviously quite dangerous.
I have to say that even though i go through this with every review, this one reads and feels like a new level of low and designed to get me just under the threshold yet again - even though, ironically, they decided to award my PIP for a longer time!?!
Anyway, i wont go on and this is taking me forever to type.
Can anyone link me to the correct file, if indeed it does exist.
Many thanks
Amanda

Replied by latetrain on topic PIP claim reduced at review yet again!!
Hi miss ladysmith
I cannot think of a file, we do have a guide which gives a breakdown of all the sections, the latest version is 67 which has only just come out this month.
If you click on guides at the top of the page then click on PIP.
