Successful Pip but time limited again.

Following a serious accident and other issues I have been on Pip/esa (and their precusors) for the last 20 odd years. Every few years we go through the same forms and battle our way through it all. This year I received my Pip decision based on the forms we returned, which is great, I didn't have to go through the physical assessment again BUT why is it only time limited for for 3 years? What's going to change that hasn't in the last 20+. ?
Any ideas. Thanks.

Hi marx175

It's difficult to know why some people with long-term conditions have been awarded 10-year or ongoing awards, and others have not. You can write and ask for your award length to be extended. A couple of members have been successful in this. You need to make clear that you are not contesting the award at all.

If you don't want to write now and ask - next time you have to complete a review - add it into the area where it asks is there anything else you want to say or add it onto an additional sheet and explain that there haven't been improvements in the last 20 years, and there won't be, and three years is a particularly short award length. In reality, three years is only two years if they send out the review form up to a year before the end date.

Award lengths have been deliberately shortened, so you are not alone in this happening.
