For the attention of the moderators
I have read on John Pring's DNS news service and the Independent that the DWP is restarting the DLA transfer process in September 2026.
A new system has been put in place where assessors are now just information gatherers and DWP Case Managers will make the actual decision. decision.
The question, where does this leave people over pension age who were born after the 9 April 1948?
Will we be cut off suddenly, or will we still be told we can still apply to PIP (as per the current situation until recently), or simply told to apply for Attendance Allowance. Where does this leave people claiming mobility component and possibly have a motability vehicle above pension age (then in 2013 of 65).
This does not appear to be an Act of parliament or statutory instrument, just a change in DWP internal bureaucracy. Transform Decision Making.
Do you know anything more about this than the general public? This change seems to ignore the TImms enquiry on PIP not due to report in October.
Older people would really like to know. Likewise people still of working age on PIP with indefinite awards.

The transfers are part of a small pilot programme, and they will start with 3,000 claimants in September. It doesn't seem to be a new system. Case managers have always looked at the assessor's reports and made the decision.
There are no current details about when they may decide to tackle the other 150,000 claimants, so there is nothing we can currently tell you. Steve will put it in the newsletter when there are.
