How long a Blue Badge is valid for

Most Blue Badges are valid for three years. This period is so the local authorities can check that you still qualify as some disabilities can improve over time. It also helps them keep their contact details up-to-date and issue the latest version of the Blue Badge.

The Blue Badge is valid for less than three years if you are either receiving:

the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance
a War pensioner’s mobility supplement

In these cases, the period of issue of the badge will tie in with the period of the benefit.

My friend has just renewed his Blue Badge and its been issued for 3 years, but his DLA ends in 14 months ??

He's the lucky one then... it may be that his council are slow on the take up.

I live in a big city, where there is lots of BB fraud, so they're really hot on it.
