The £324 Cost of Living Payment, which follows on from a £326 payment made in July, will be paid out from 8 to 23 November the government has confirmed.

The second payment will automatically be paid into the bank accounts of those eligible in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who receive a qualifying benefit./  This means that, in theory,  you will not need to do anything to receive the money.

Though, as those eligible for the £150 disability benefit payment have been discovering recently, things don’t always run smoothly.

To be eligible for the second payment, families must have been entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of either:

Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August to 25 September

or

  • income-based JSA,
  • income-related ESA,
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit

for any day in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022.

Tax credit-only customers, who will receive the second payment shortly after DWP payments, must have received a payment, or an annual award of at least £26, of tax credits for any day in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022, or later found to be entitled to tax credits for this period.

The payment will be tax-free, will not count towards the benefit cap, and will not have any impact on existing benefit awards.

Over 8 million households should receive a payment.

Full details are available on the government website.

I must write with absolute horror! I receive Carers allowance and a very small pension and have taken Ofgem (and Ofcom) to task as I do not believe I should have to claim universal credit to receive both the Warm Home Discount as well as the reduced broadband package with BT. My MP (Richard Drax) has approached the S of State regarding this matter. I am a low income household (below the poverty line in fact) and deem it discrimination against me if I don't choose to claim U.C. Its been a month already and no reply from him. OfCom refused to help but did reduce my package after taking it to the top as they clearly didn't want to issue a deadlock letter and for me to complain to OfCom. OfGem now state that they may 'install ECO measures' but they are 'not involved with contractual arrangements' so its nothing to do with them!

A solicitor has not replied to my 'Is there a case to answer?' query. There is a group of people who are carers, who choose not to claim U.C. yet are refused any help with the cost of living at all. This is deplorable. Any comments?

I didn't get my first payment of 326 as my wife was the account holder for our bank account and we split up on 4th July ,so they paid money into her bank account on 14th July. even tho I changed my esa details n bank account number to a new one .so I phoned job center n he said there's nothing I can do ,you better go see your wife ,and that broke me as she lives hundreds of miles away somewhere I don't even know .what a shower of sh. T.dwp the Gestapo will never change.
