The devils have a new advocate then. Redemption awaits eventually for all those willing to punish those least able to fend for themselves. Hopefully one day they will receive their own kind of punishment for their crimes to humanity. In the mean time carry on with the good work this site is doing, and I personally thank you for your continued endurance and endeavours in helping the less fortunate of this country

There are two issues in relation to this news. Firstly, the DWP is a mess. This is partly because the department is meant to administrate the Benefits people are entitled to, but spends most of its time trying to implement a DWP budget by means of cuts, appeals and renewals.

Secondly, the person who is responsible for the mess in the NHS, DWP and other departments is George Osborne! He has lost touch with reality in having no concept of how these cuts affect peoples lives.

Today, Saturday 19/03/16 Stephen Crabb has been appointed as the new Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. He replaces IDS who resigned at 9PM on Friday night.

You can read through Stephen Crabb's voting history : Here !

For the vast majority of votes, he "toes the party line" !!!

It looks very much like he will be a "Yes Man" for Camoron and Gideon !!

This new appointment was never going to be "Good News" as whoever got the job was invariably going to be a Tory !!!!

Hi,

Apparently,Stephen Crabb has been hailed as a 'really good choice'as the new Work and Pensions secretary because he comes from a "pretty underprivileged background"and he knows what it is like to be from the rough end of economic circumstances. And his instincts are thoroughly one nation.

The big question is:will he be able to stand up to Osbourne? or as Bro has said, will he be the new yes sir, no sir man.....

This remains to be seen..

It's all over in the news that IDS actually clashed with Osbourne over the cuts and he was used as a scapegoat and that was the real reason why he quit....IDS said he was forced to defend the cuts...he had felt it unfair that government payments for pensioners had been "safeguarded", while the "full weight of cuts" was on those of working age.

However, I am sticking to that old saying, never always believe what you read! :P

Hi

It was always my point, who would replace him, the DWP is a poisoned chalice and whoever takes it on us quickly going to become a hated figure. The Universal Credit fiasco for one and under performing private health contractors for another.

I hate IDS with a passion and am glad he has gone and I hope this is the start of the end of the Tories and it is good that finally the British public is discovering that some cuts are morally indefensible and can't be ignored but I suspect it will be business as usual at the DWP.

As someone said it is the product and not the salesman that needs to change. Sometimes it is better the devil you know. We live in interesting times. I hope I am proved wrong.

Hi All, :)

If anyone is at all interested, IDS will be a guest on The Andrew Marr show tomorrow morning at 9am (20/3/2016)

Sir John Major was the main guest but was replaced by IDS obviously due to his resignation.

SJM will be a guest sometime in the near future.

Im a bit late joining this particular party and I hope that some of you are not too hung over..... but you probably are !!!

My (sober) view on it is that a) I am chuffed as you all are that the evil geezer has gone and b) I hope and pray this really makes the Tories unravel and they have mountains of problems actually getting any further disability benefit cuts through because of the ongoing 'in fighting'.

Good news is an understatement....... lets hope there is more to come ;)
