After doing some research on our new S of S for DWP, (aka Stevie [Benefit] "Buster Crabb" ) I am not at all impressed.

In my opinion, the only thing worse than a "natural Tory" who comes from a privileged background, is one that comes from a "working class" background, as they feel that they have to prove to the "natural Tories" that they are far more Tory than they are. i.e. Out Torying the "Proper Tories" !

We'll see !!!!!!!

For starters, he needs to do some research on ESA, because according to this extract posted on : his facebook page on 17/03/16 (3rd Para from the bottom) :

"Of course we absolutely continue to protect those who are ‘too ill to work’. There is no question about that. Those with the most severe health conditions and disabilities will quite rightly continue to get a higher rate of benefit and support. Any disabled person who is unable to work due to ill health or disability is in the Support Group of ESA. They are wholly unaffected by the change, as only those who are fit to work and actively seeking work are included in the Work Related Activity Group."

He seems to think that members of the WRAG are fit for work and/or to actively seek employment !!! :silly:

Of course, we all know at B&W that being in The WRAG means that you are unfit for work in that you have been assessed as having Limited Capability for Work. (LCW) Hence, you cannot be compelled to actively seek or take up employment.

Oh dear, maybe one of us should drop him a line to put him straight !!!!

More evidence of the attempted "blurring of the lines" between ESA WRAG and JSA, just as IDS wanted !!!!!

B) Well, I couldn't quite believe it when IDS resigned.
Part of me was convinced that is was to do with Brexit and part of me wasn't sure.

Watched the Andrew Marr interview and thought IDS was contrite but that doesn't make it any easier for the thousands that have been affected but the cuts over the last 6 years.

As for Stephen Crabb taking over and being brought up on a council estate. I have known a number of people who have worked in Government and on Councils, brought up on council estates, then climbed the greasy pole of success and they have been the ones who have been the very worst.

They might remember their roots and where they came from but success can be a powerful aphrodisiac.

Let us hope that the shake up IDS has caused will cause the Tories to be more tempered in future with changes they are going to or not going to implement.

According to Matthew d'Ancona in the Guardian today, IDS sent a "Dear colleague..." letter to fellow MP's defending Osborne's reforms on the day he resigned. Apart from sharing the Tories legacy of hypocrisy (e.g. the sleaze that dogged Tory "Back to Basics" policy in the 90's) there's no love lost between the failed former Tory leader IDS and the Cameron/Osborne clique who made much more of a success at bringing the Tories back into power.

They are currently debating Osborne's cock-up Budget and our new S of S for DWP is also due to make his maiden speech in his new position this afternoon.

You can view it all : Here

Osborne is conspicuous by his absence in the proceedings !

He wrote on Facebook – less than two days before he was appointed welfare secretary – that the Wrag cut only affected people who were “able to work”, and that the reduction, coupled with specialised employment coaching, would help them get a job.

He added: “Any disabled person who is unable to work due to ill health or disability is in the support group of ESA. They are wholly unaffected by the change, as only those who are fit to work and actively seeking work are included in the work-related activity group.”

My word !!!

The DWP's PR/Spin machine are "working overtime" !!!

His original comments made on 17/03/16 :

" Of course we absolutely continue to protect those who are ‘too ill to work’. There is no question about that. Those with the most severe health conditions and disabilities will quite rightly continue to get a higher rate of benefit and support. Any disabled person who is unable to work due to ill health or disability is in the Support Group of ESA. Have just been edited to this :

"Of course we absolutely continue to protect those who are ‘too ill to work’. There is no question about that. Those with the most severe health conditions and disabilities will quite rightly continue to get a higher rate of benefit and support. And despite the political banter from Labour, the disability budget is actually going to be rising by more than £1 billion over the next 5 years which means that more money is being spent in real terms on support for disabled people than at any point under the previous Labour government."

As seen : Here

I have emboldened the original extract and the edited version for ease of comparison !!

There is this message at the bottom :

"Note: This post has been updated, as it previously contained a factual inaccuracy."

although the date of his comments remains the same. i.e. 17/03/16 !

Nothing changes with this Government, does it ???

See : Steve's News Article on this also.
