Everyone's PIP review deadlines extended?? True??

Hi,

I'm completely confused about my deadline for returning my PIP review form. On the 10th of July I received the dreaded form with the deadline 4th of August. I called PIP yesterday and, after being on hold for literally a whole hour, I was told that everyone's PIP review deadlines have been extended by 85 days because PIP is experiencing an IT / computer system melt down! The call handler told me that this extension also applies to returning the review forms. This doesn't make sense to me. If PIP is behind schedule with processing reviews then it does make sense for them to extend everyone's awards, yes, but would that really also result in automatic extensions of everyone's deadlines for returning the forms? It seems too good to be true?! I have brain-fog so I'm sorry if I'm being clueless? Has anyone else heard anything about this PIP IT mess and the impact it's having on deadlines for submitting review forms?

Many thanks, in advance, for your input!

Hi Aurla

I haven't heard anyone else being told that the DWP have IT problems or that deadlines for returning forms have been extended again, so can't comment. if it does come out, I'm sure Steve will put it in the newsletter. I know you don't want to sit on the phone for an hour again, but personally if I get news like that, I always ring a second time to see if I'm given the information.

Hopefully another member of the forum will read your post and say if they have had a similar experience.

Thanks for your response. I asked for the woman's name and she said "Sharon" and said that they don't give out their surnames but that she's part of "the Manchester team" and, to reassure me, she also reminded me that the call was being recorded so I would have proof of what she had told me. However, yes, I guess I will have to brave calling again.
I really hope other people will comment on this strange story I was told?!

P.S.

I have extremely severe anxiety, amplified during phone-calls so I can barely speak or process what's being said to me and, because of this, I can't face calling PIP again. I really hope other people will share what they are told about the deadlines for returning PIP review forms?

Hi Aurla , I recently rang to ask for an extension to return my review form and was only given 2 weeks. I know at one point they were giving out 3 month extensions but this was never mentioned to me. It is recommended on the forum to try ringing as early as possible in the day as wait times are shorter. I tried ringing at 9am and was only waiting 12 minutes so hope that helps. Best wishes

this was posted on the YOURABLE forum -

This was posted on rightsnet today regarding a sudden spate of 'missing' PIP2s and AR1s that has apparently been happening for a month or so:

We heard via our Deputyship team and unofficially, that PIP are aware of problems and big delays with post and after initially believing it to be the fault of Royal Mail, then a problem with the mail handling sites scanning process, they have now identified it is a problem with their IT and they are looking to sort it out “as quickly as possible”.
