I requested a home visit they looked at my case notes again & then gave me a home visit...my point is why are they now instisting I attend an assessment centre....probably with my Bi-Polar & complex needs....however surly that they would have known this when reviewing my case notes for a home visit....is there any legislation I can quote them as to them maybe being discriminative regarding my complex needs

Hi Susan

Of course you can complain. All I am saying is there is a complaints procedure and there your complaint will be dealt with separately from you trying to get your PIP claim completed.

As it stands you don't know the reason - so we can speculate, but until you ask you won't know.

You can ask them to do a paper-based assessment, but they only do 3% of these.

The fact that they changed their mind is awful for you, but they are entitled to do so.

You can try quoting the Equality Act, but the majority of claimants would claim that reasonable adjustments are not being made for them. Health and Safety nearly always trumps reasonable adjustments.

Ok I thought it would halt the process of my pip claim whilst the complaint took president ....I am not trying to get out of the assessment it is the way that the IAS has handled this situation and how it has left me....and yes I am sure their are thousands of other claimants in the same situation I just feel that their is an injustice here...or maybe I am just naive and have to conform to the IAS and take their actions as normal....it has been ten years since my last assessment ....so I believe that an assessment is well & truly due... However it is the way that the IAS handle these claimants that we just have to put up with their non compassionate approach however they advocate to give their claimants the respect they rightly deserve. Maybe I should wake up & smell the coffee.....on a postive note.....this web site is great & a great source of information THank you

No, any complaint is a separate matter from your on-going assessment.

Susan

There is no defined criteria for a PBR but in general terms there are two things that they will look at.

First, is there sufficient authoritative information available to write a report without seeing the claimant?

Secondly, is there a significant risk of harm to the claimant if a face to face is required?
