Hi Lucy

I know you want a definitive answer, but it is impossible for anyone to give you one.

If claimants have to inform the DWP they have been away for more than four weeks, they may get asked about their holiday at their next review - but they may not. If they are asked, no one can know beforehand whether going on holiday will have a negative impact on their next award, because it will depend on whether there have been any changes in their condition, what answers they give, what evidence they have submitted and the opinion of the health professional. It's entirely possible that their award is decreased and it has nothing to do with the holiday.

If you go for more than four weeks and you have to inform them - they don't suddenly take your PIP away.

I only want to go for 5 nights. I spoke to insurers and apparently if you can get a confirmation letter from your GP that you can manage a short holiday without a carer, then the insurance will be valid.
