WCA dilemma - DWP delay tactics ?

Hi All,

Key points:

UC50 returned within deadline – proof of posting

We returned the UC50 by post on 8 December 2025, ahead of the 12 December 2025 deadline.

HAAS have confirmed they received the UC50 from DWP on 20 December 2025. However, they closed the case because it was recvd after 12 DEC 25 deadline

We have proof of posting dated 8 December 2025.

HAAS agent advised we should contact UC and request the case be reinstated
Sent request via UCJ
WC advised ' I see that the received date for your UC50 form was after the deadline.

I have been advised to tell you to re report your health conditions and make sure you have continuous fit notes so that the health journey can begin again.'

i'm so annoyed. The delays are out of our control. If had not chased the WCA in new year i would never had known what had happened. We didnt get any notification that process was closed.

What should i do ..... ?

Hi Sum

You say that you posted it on the 8 Dec and they didn't receive it until after the 12 December. Is there any proof of date of receipt such as " signed for " or an Evri type of photo?

Normally I use signed for services despite the DWP advice and business reply envelop supplied Unfortunately on this occasion I didn't use signed for services. Just have cert of posting.

Hi Sum

In that case you could ask the DWP for proof of date of receipt. If they refuse then you could request a copy of the post room log with the receipt date via a SAR ( subject access request ).

Hi David ,

Thanks for the advice.

I've already initiated a request for support from our MP office. This approach was suggested by @Latetrain on another thread

There are 3 outstanding issues with the claim. I have chased for resolution via UCJ and phone calls and although the staff are polite enough, I feel no-one is taking accountability, I keep on being ping-ponged between UC n PIP ! 😡

TBH any option ie MP casework , resending WCA or SAR will be long and time consuming.

DWP interactions are upsetting - when things go wrong, there's more pressure on the vulnerable by design and no accountability from DWP. Its hard to be positive. Fighting on all fronts is exhausting.

Hi All - I posted an update yesterday but for some reason its not showing ..... apologies if it duplicates no my fault

An update for those following this saga ... hope it helps others on there journeys

I decided against my better judgement to chased issues via UC helpline... oi know I am a glutton for punishment 😕

WCA issue - agent suggested a misunderstanding or miscommunication. Shock Horror !! 😱 He advised that DWP cannot reinstate a WCA once case closed by HAAS. BTW -this was the guidance originally given by the HAAS agent i spoke to. Quel surpris ! Contradicting advice from all parties involved, who would have believed it !

Anyhoo we have to resubmit the WCA application apparently - which ofc increases assmt and waiting time and adds cost n effort on clmt part. Agent advised there wouldnt be any impact on the claim and LCWRA start date as that's dependent on fit note submissions.🤞🏽

re the other two issues agent couldn't help or see anything on system .... feels like a sketch from
Britain right
? . He suggested messaging the case mgr via UCJ

BTW - we recorded the call - agent was adamant this wasnt allowed and put me hold to chk. He came back and said DWP cant stop call recordings , bit said we cant use the recording for xyz …… i stopped listening 😄

soap opera continues …… play Eastenders theme ......lalala
