One off Cheque for £3,000 was created by StrokeofInsight
Please could you inform me if someone is in receipt of IR ESA or Universal Credit, their mortgage comes to an end and they receive a cheque from the mortgage ISA bank for £3,000 (because there was money left over from the mortgage ISA they paid into over 25 years) do they have to inform DWP?

Would this one-off £3,000 cheque reduce or stop IR ESA or UC payments?

Does a claimant need to inform DWP of this one-off cheque for £3,000 or do they not need to inform DWP as it would be under £6,000?

Thank you

Hi Strokeofinsight

No you don't have to inform them if your total savings and investments are still under £6000. But remember every UC claimant these days gets an Automated Claim Review so keep all evidence of payments and their provenance.
