Hi Phrank, in their minds they might think that an increase in medication might mean it will help your condition and you might improve over time. I had a similar justification once about an increase in pain relief. In truth I think they manipulate data to suit their agenda which can end up making no common sense at all.
Good luck in pursuing this. The final hurdle hopefully.

hi phrank
sorry to hear of your `result`. i think 18 months is outrageous hope the dm sees sense and gives u what u deserve , the 10 years light touch.
i am similar age and expecting the dreaded letter soon (on enhanced on both). i was hoping for a paper based but now i am not so sure. fingers crossed for you

Good on you phrank, as previously stated if the award is short then it is worth applying for a MR just on the length of time if you are happy with the award.

And so the saga continues, I know members do like reading your posts, it does give them lots of encouragement, although it must take a hit on your mental health with all the ups and downs along your journey.

Hi An Ex nurse,

Thanks for your reply; what you say makes sense.

However, the medictaion the assessor was refering to is a certain anti anxiety drug and the dosage has fluctuated greatly over the ten years or so I've been taking it.

The reasons for the change in dosage is - not it's effectiveness - but the side effects it causes ie lightheadedness and dizziness.

I have been given a 'free reign' if you like to alter my dosage to suit both by my GP and ANP.

In the end, around two years ago, my prescription was changed to the maximum dosage I can handle - not the highest dosage.

They are tiny tablets and rather than the three per day three times daily prescribed, I take usually one in a morning at present and three at night which the surgery is aware of.

It might not stay the same for long.

In other words: my dosage changes but my prescription stays the same for convenience. When I have too many, I just leave them off my next repeat prescription request.

I have explained this in full to the decision maker in my letter which I am posting tomorrow. I have written to my MP, too this afternoon so a busy day.

I thought I'd try to inject some logic to add to my last post on the subject.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi Freddey

Thanks for your post.

I hope you do get that paper-based review. I must admit I did badger them at ATOS quite a lot to get mine.

I suppose the thing with the medication is the result of having that faceless and voiceless assessment but not to worry - I've written my letter and involved my MP for a second time.

Good luck with your assessment - whatever it turns out to be, and let us all know how you get on.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hey Frank,

I just want to say that I hope you have enough fuel in the tank to get through this (hopefully) last hurdle.

I also have mental health conditions and am acutely aware of how anything to do with the DWP can send me on a spiral downturn. Yet, my sense of injustice can rage when I know sick and disabled people are treated abysmally, and with such cruel contempt.

I was relieved to read you have your MP on side. I really, really hope you have enough fight left to pursue the length of the award, which is a ridiculously short length of time.

I see that the marvellous mods are suggesting that MR, as would any decent human being.

Pulling for you and sending you virtual "rage" vibes!

Best,

Susie
