ESA claim

I did meet them a while ago but at that time I was ill advised by the DWP benefits advice line that i was not eligible so I did not claim. I just want to know if it is worth putting in a claim now with an explanatory note explaining this. Please can you give me your thoughts.
ESA is a single benefit with two sets of eligibility criteria, ESA(CB) will always be paid if the claimant qualifies. If you make a claim now then they will use the Tax Years for 2013-14 and 2014-15, if you back date it by the three months into last year then they should use 2012-13 and 2013-14.

I was a carer for many years until Sep 2013, is it definitely too late to claim CB ESA even if I backdate the claim to 2015? I believe it is too late which is really frustrating considering I was ill advised by the DWP back in 2013/ 2014 when I was told I was not eligible. I have been unable to work properly these last few years due to my health problems and have been living off the money from my ex buying my share of our house in 2013 which will all be gone in two or three years time. I am sure if I had claimed back in 2013/ 2014 I would have been put in the support group for CB ESA and hence had financial support. Should I put in a claim anyway, explaining this

I'm afraid the DWP cannot consider matter related to a claim that was not made.
A claim for Income Related ESA will be dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
