Also, as far as you Council tax is concerned, your mobiity, even if paid out on a Motabilty car,is still seen as income. What you choose to do with that money is your choice but income it remains.
Sorry to butt in but I know this from personal experience.
Hope it helps.

PIP should not be treated as income for Housing Benefit but it can be if you receive a Discretional Housing Payment (DHP).

Thanks for your input Katy. I know the PIP will have no effect on my HB as that has not changed. It has allways been included in all income calculations, but is then disregarded.

The assessor has recommended 6 for care and 8 for mobility. I believe this will mean no care and standard mobility, and is a lot better than many whom \i see getting no points.

Katy P wrote: Hi Bruce... As Gordon pointed out, lower DLa is care £22. Whereas standard daily care on PIP is over £50,so it is not the same amount at all.
Also, even if she reckons you can walk up to 50 metres and you have points for the going out section, you will still make the higer Mobility component.

I don't think I am doing a very good job of explainging myself. At the moment I get £22 a week and the use of a car. If I get what the assessor recomends I will get no care and lose my access to the Motability scheme. In their place I will get Standard rate |Mobility. Which is £22, so same income but no car. If you see what I mean.

Just had the letter from Motability saying as I have not been awarded the enhanced rate of the Mobility component I am losing my independence and am now going to have to rely on others to take me to the doctors, hospital, shopping, etc.

Would have been nice to have heard it from the DWP, and it not being based on the mind reading (she actually got it wrong as well) powers of a HCP. Guess I better phone them and find out WTF is going on.

Mind you I could keep my car. all |I have to do is find 14 grand by May and \i'm good to go.

Off to phone the DWP. I'll then get onto my MP.

Just got of the phone. The letter is on the way and I have been awarded pip. Only standard rate though so the car has to go.

Can't do anything till I get the letter, but they said it was sent out on the 21st Feb so I won't have long to get my MR in, seems a bit unfair to me. Good thing i was pre-warned by way of the report. If I had not read in here I could get it I would not have had enough time to prepare a MR.
