Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

If your wife has an indefinite award and was over 65 on 8 April 2013 then she will continue to receive DLA, although this doesn't exempt from reassessment. If not then she will be invited to claim PIP.
If your wife is already receiving Pension Credit then you do not have to continue with your ESA claim unless you wish to keep the payments separate or your need the Credits paid with by ESA for a full State Pension.

Gordon, I know my wife's DLA will continue (at least until the Tories move the goalposts again). But I was wondering how it works with PIP. If I get say a ten year award, will I be able to keep all parts (or even get an increase) when I reapply if like my wife did with DLA. Or have they changed that as well?
I am aware that I could get carers allowance and an increase in my wife's pension credit if I give up my ESA. I would do that if I had to go through the stress of a WCA. All our money goes into the same account so it makes no difference there, and I have enough stamps to qualify for a full pension.
There is one thing to worry about though, and it is horrible to think about. If anything should happen and I was to end up on my own and I was relying on carers allowance, pension credit and HB with a pensioner. I would be in a hell of a lot of trouble with UC bedroom tax etc. At least while I am on ESA in the support group I have at least some income/security.

After a sleepless night and having to cancel appointments due today. 26 minutes before the appointed time, Atos phoned and said the appointment was to be cancelled. They have given us another in a couple of weeks time.
I kicked off on the phone now my wife is worried they will not send anyone round (or send 2) and I am worried I'll have to go to a centre. I've heard that they count cancelled appointments as missed appointments and stop ones benefits.
The guy on the phone did say my benefits would still be paid but one must wonder why he made a point of saying this. In my elevated state I forgot to ask the callers name, although I do have the call logged on my mobile.

If ATOS cancelled the appointment then it should not count against you, however, if you are still concerned then write to the DWP explaining what happened so there is a record of who cancelled.
