In my face to face access ment, the assessor asked how many minuits I could walk for. Not how many meters. So I said 10 minuits but not 20 and after 10 minutes I had alot of pain in my knees and I find it a lot more difficult walking up or down hills. How many meters is 10 minuits?

I'm afraid that depends entirely on how fast you walk!

The DWP use figures for walking speed that vary from 72m to 90m per minute for an average person, 48m to 60m per minute is counted as slow and 24m to 30m per minute is counted as very slow.
So by saying you can walk for 10 minutes you have assessed yourself as being able to walk (very slowly) at least 240m and if your speed is quicker, a lot further.

Follow the Members Only Guides link in the section to the left of this post and towards the top of the page.
On the new page that opens, select either PIP just below where you clicked or Personal Independence Payments on the section to the right.
The PIP Claim guide is at the top of the new page and the guides concerned with appeals are further down.
